In M-Plex's One-Day Holiday Challenge, Foxboro defeated North Attleboro in dramatic fashion in overtime, 42-41.
Foxboro was scrappy all game, taking a one-point edge into the half, 14-13, and didn't back down from one of the local area's top team all afternoon.
Foxboro held a 27-20 lead middway through the half before North Attleboro went on a 12-3 run to capture a 34-30 lead and looked as if they had fought off adversity and would win the contest.
Foxboro had other plans and fought their way back down the stretch. Katherine Tamulionis scored 11 second half points, including seven of Foxboro's last nine down the stretch.
North Attleboro had a chance to pull off the victory, but turned the ball over as time expired. The score was 38-38 after regulation.
In overtime, both teams were pretty stagnant. North Attleboro took the lead with 18 seconds left in the extra session and again, it seemed as if North would pull it out.
After a foul by North and coming out of a timeout, Tamulionis caught the ball on the wing and sliced through the lane to hit a lay-up with 3 seconds left. In disarray, North Attleboro was unable to even in-bounds the ball before the buzzer sounded.
--- Game notes: - North Attleboro's Melissa Beaupre was their lone standout offensively. Beaupre scored 13 points in the second half.
- Foxboro looked much better than what I saw from them in the preseason and got solid contributions from other players. Tamulionis's sidekick on this afternoon was Kiersten Warner. Warner is a tough guard that chipped in with eight second half points.
